How to use the video codec

Installing codec

To start using video codec, you need to get installation binary file and run it. Setup procedure is very easy.

Options window and compression modes

The codec has three compression modes.

Visually lossy

The mode designed to compress movies captured from VHS video tape or for using with video camera data. In this mode video codec uses YUV 4:2:0 colorspace. This is suitable for still image videos, but it can cause artifacts while using this mode with high contrast graphics or text. This compression mode provides best compression ratio.


Visually lossless

The mode designed for precise 2D, 3D animation, texts, screen capturing, so everywhere, where sharp details are present. YUV 4:2:2 colorspace is used in this mode.


Absolutely lossless

The mode designed for scientific purposes. In this mode codec preserves all information, so nothing is lost. This mode's compression ratio is the lowest comparably to other modes. It's recommended to use this mode if only perfect picture quality is required.
